Product - Application Engineer





ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

Accountable to insure our thermal management product meets customer specifications and internal requirements.  Negotiate specifications, testing requirements and product changes with the customer.



PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mechanical engineering preferred, and greater than three years of experience in thermal systems engineering.  The candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Also required is the ability to define problems, design effective tests, analyze data and draw valid conclusions. The candidate must have experience with product design and development processes such as DFMEAs, design reviews and DV plans. Familiarity with different refrigerants and impact on system performance.  This position requires good interpersonal skills to work with the internal team and the customer.

 




 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible to interface with the customer concerning current product engineering issues; track responsibility, timing commitments and resolution
  2. Works effectively with team to execute the engineering deliverables for (HIPE) APQP process.
  3. Understand customer refrigerant cycle. Size and select components (compressor, chillers, exv, etc.) based on cooling/heating requirements.
  4. Involved in all customer communication including quality and manufacturing
  5. Assists the lead engineer in developing the product specification, including DVP&R. Responsible to gain consensus with the customer on the DVP&R
  6. Ensure proper equipment and test definition is available to execute the DVP&R.
  7. Works with the testing group to insure the proper execution of the DVP&R.
  8. Perform data and part analysis and accurate reporting of tests.
  9. Plan and Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) as necessary to support root-cause analysis.
  10. Actively participates in DFMEAs.
  11. Participates in design reviews to insure accurate tolerance stacks are prepared both for dimensional and geometric tolerances, that appropriate modeling has been performed with acceptable results, lessons learned are reviewed and design guidelines are used.
  12. Works with the team to insure that the product design meets the cost target.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
